Healthier and Happier: 5 simple things for a Well-balanced Life
When we talk about health, we often think about physical health first, don’t we? However, what does “health” actually mean? We all want to feel healthier and happier, right?
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, health is “the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit.” I’d like to emphasize the body-mind-spirit connection, which to me, translates to physical, mental, and emotional/spiritual well-being.
With that in mind, here are five simple things I include in my daily life—or as often as possible—to help me feel healthier and happier. I hope some of these resonate with you and fit your lifestyle!
Drink your water
We’ve all heard this before, but there’s a reason why it’s repeated so often. Our bodies are made up of a significant percentage of water. For instance:
- Newborns: about 78% water
- Adult women: approximately 55% water
- Adult men: around 65% water
This varies by person, but as a rule of thumb, half of your body is water! Think about how much water your organs need to function well! Hydration supports everything from skin health to vital organ performance. So, drink your water—it’s essential.
Move your body
You don’t need a gym membership or fancy equipment to stay active. Simple actions can make a big difference:
- Walk instead of driving short distances.
- Park farther from entrances.
- Take your kids or pets out for a walk.
- Use a walking pad while working or watching TV.
Also, please don’t forget to include some kind of mobility exercises that maybe you can do before bed! Be intentional about staying active—your future self will thank you.
Check your mental state
Mental health deserves as much attention as physical health. Living with a mental condition or going through tough times is nothing to feel guilty about. The real challenge is ignoring the need for help.
There are tools, professionals, and supportive communities available. Taking care of your mind is a step toward making the world a kinder, more inclusive place for everyone.
learn about your emotions
Have you ever had road rage or unresolved arguments? Emotional growth is a vital part of personal development. Understanding where emotions come from and learning how to process them helps you resolve conflicts in a mature way, so everyone feels seen, heard and validated. If you don’t know where to start, there are countless resources available to support your emotional well-being. Growth begins with awareness.
Care for your spiritual side
I come from a Catholic country, and was also raised Catholic, however, today I am a Christian and I love my spiritual life. I’m not here to tell you what is what, or which is right or wrong, that’s not my place. Spirituality is deeply personal. Whether you believe in God, Mother Nature, the Universe, or another higher power, nurturing your spiritual health can provide balance and happiness.
Stay connected to the anchor that grounds you and guides your principles. It’s a meaningful way to achieve inner peace and direction. Want to know more? Go check Gratitude: How Shifting Perspectives Can Transform Your Life!
These are five things I prioritize daily to feel healthier, happier, and more equipped to face life’s challenges. While they won’t guarantee a problem-free life, they can help you respond to difficulties with strength and clarity.

Be kind, dream big, live fully!
